VoIP Telephony
Modern business communication that works from anywhere.
We believe your phone system shouldn’t dictate where your team works or how much time they waste on basic admin tasks
Traditional phone systems tie businesses to physical locations, require expensive hardware and make remote working unnecessarily complicated. VoIP telephony removes these limitations whilst reducing costs and giving your team the flexibility to work from anywhere with an internet connection.
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) converts voice calls into digital data that travels over IP telephony networks rather than copper phone lines. This means your phone system becomes as flexible as the rest of your technology, with calls answered on desk phones, mobiles, laptops or any device with an internet connection.
Acronyms provides complete VoIP telephony services, from initial consultation through to system configuration, ongoing monitoring and technical support. We work with businesses across the South West to replace outdated phone infrastructure with modern communication systems that actually work for how teams operate today.

Prepare your business for digital telephony with VoIP
The PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) switch-off is happening. If your business uses copper cables, you need to move to a fully digital service before your local exchange closes.
Waiting until the deadline means competing with thousands of other businesses for installation slots when engineers are at their busiest. Moving to VoIP now gives you time to choose the right system, plan the transition properly and avoid last-minute disruption to your operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows businesses to make and receive calls over the internet rather than traditional copper phone lines. You can opt for a hybrid system of soft phones (headsets and software) and hard phones (traditional handsets), although many choose an entirely digital system where users make calls directly from their computers or mobiles.
-
No, your existing phone numbers can be ported to your new VoIP system. We handle the number porting process, working with your current provider and the new VoIP service to transfer numbers without disruption.
-
VoIP requires stable internet with sufficient bandwidth for your expected call volume. Each active call uses roughly 100 Kbps of bandwidth, so a business with 10 simultaneous calls needs at least 1 Mbps dedicated to voice traffic. We assess your current internet connection as part of our planning process and recommend upgrades if needed before implementing VoIP.
-
This depends on your current phones and the VoIP system you choose. 3CX works with a wide range of IP phones from various manufacturers. Teams Phone works with certified Teams-compatible handsets. We can often reuse existing IP phones if they’re compatible, but traditional analogue phones connected to old phone lines won’t work with VoIP systems without adapters.
