Acronyms Opens the Doors to its New Plymouth Office
At the beginning of 2024 we were delighted to mark the official opening of our new Plymouth office with a Town Hall event for our staff based across the South West.
In a move that confirms our continued confidence in the region, we purchased a facility at William Prance Road in Plymouth which sees our local office footprint more than double in size. This will enable us to increase the size our team in Plymouth with aims of employing 50 staff across our three South West offices by early 2025.
Acronyms was founded in Plymouth in 2003 and we’d previously spent 15 years as tenants at Plymouth Science Park. We thrived in the Science Park’s technology-rich environment and during our time there expanded our regional presence by opening offices in Bristol and Bodmin through organic growth and acquisitions.
Today, we support over 200 UK-based clients including Taylor Wimpey, National Marine Aquarium, Sharp’s Brewery and a number of regional law firms, having also become the Official IT Partner of the Plymouth Law Society at the start of this year. Alongside our regional growth, we are keen to continue supporting the wider Plymouth community and do so as headline sponsors of the Acronyms Tamar 10k, as well as providing sponsorship for technology meetup Digital Plymouth and the Plymouth Youth Awards.
Commenting on the expansion, Managing Director Dave Smith said:
“This is another significant investment in our ability to service our clients across the country from our base here in the South West. The newly acquired office will enable us to continue the growth of Acronyms by attracting further talented IT professionals to the region, whilst providing exciting new opportunities in a growing sector for local young people.”
New recruits in the past six months include four IT engineers, and three additions to our Sales & Customer Success teams, all a product of company growth. Meanwhile, we are in talks with further education institutions across Plymouth to create new pathways into the IT industry, and as a means of keeping young talent in the region.
The new premises include 25 additional workstations, client meeting rooms with touch screen technology, increased communal areas for team working and EV charge points.
