Business Broadband
Fast, reliable broadband for your business.
Business broadband connections designed to support your team
With more work now performed online, the faster your internet connection, the better your business operates. Reliable broadband means your team can run video conferences, use VoIP telephone systems and access cloud-based software without performance dropping when everyone’s using it at once.
When your broadband slows down during busy periods, you’re paying for business tools that can’t perform as well as they should. You need an internet connection that can keep up with what you’re asking it to do.
We help businesses across the South West find the right internet connection for their location and requirements. Using specialist connectivity software, we assess what’s available at your premises and match you with the provider offering the best combination of speed, reliability and cost.
Your business connectivity options
The type of connection you can get depends on your address and what infrastructure is available in your area. Here are the main options for business internet connectivity.
-
SoGEA Broadband
SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) delivers broadband without a traditional phone line. It uses the same fibre-to-cabinet infrastructure as FTTC, with fibre running to your local street cabinet and copper for the final stretch to your premises.
Download speeds reach up to 80 Mbps with uploads around 20 Mbps, depending on your distance from the cabinet.
With the PSTN switch-off completing in 2027, SoGEA is the replacement for businesses still on part fibre. If full fibre hasn’t reached your area yet, SoGEA keeps you connected until then.

Full Fibre Broadband (FTTP)
Full fibre uses fibre optic cables all the way to your premises, with no copper involved. This makes it much faster and more reliable than part fibre or SoGEA – and less affected by distance from the exchange.
Downloads can reach ultra fast speeds of up to 900Mbps, which means your team can upload files, share data and make video calls simultaneously without performance dropping during busy periods.
Availability depends on whether full fibre infrastructure has been installed in your area yet.

Leased Line Connectivity
Leased lines offer dedicated, uncontended internet access with guaranteed bandwidth that isn’t shared with other users. Unlike standard broadband, speeds don’t fluctuate based on local demand.
Your connection runs directly between your premises and your provider’s network, with symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
We provide a 4-hour Service Level Agreement (SLA) as standard with every leased line installation for always-on connectivity.

Why businesses choose us for broadband connectivity
Here’s what many of our customers value about partnering with Acronyms for their business connectivity.
-
Independent Provider
We’re not tied to any single connectivity provider. Whether you’re in an urban or rural area, we assess what’s available at your premises and match you with the provider that performs best at your specific location. We find what suits your needs rather than steering you towards one supplier.
-
Honest Assessment
If your business needs guaranteed bandwidth or can’t afford connectivity disruptions, we’ll tell you straight whether full fibre is enough or whether you’d benefit from leased line connectivity. We recommend the broadband option that aligns with how your business operates, not what earns us the highest margin.
-
Contractual SLAs
Our leased line services include 4-hour service level agreements as standard. If connectivity issues occur, we’re contractually obligated to respond and resolve problems within four hours. If days without internet would result in lost revenue and frustrated customers, this guarantee often makes the additional investment worthwhile.
-
Single Point of Contact
When connectivity problems arise, you contact us rather than dealing with provider call centres. We handle the technical troubleshooting and communication with your supplier on your behalf. Because we understand your setup, we can bypass the standard diagnostic questions and go straight to getting you your connection back.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Contended bandwidth means you share your connection with other users in your area, which is how standard business broadband works. Uncontended bandwidth means dedicated connectivity that isn’t shared with anyone, which is what leased lines provide. If your operations can’t tolerate slowdowns during busy periods, uncontended bandwidth is worth considering.
-
Yes. If you have a traditional phone line with your part fibre connection, you can port your number to a VoIP service when upgrading to full fibre. We can arrange this as part of installation to avoid service gaps. Full fibre doesn’t include traditional phone lines, so you’ll need VoIP or a separate telephony service.
-
Video conferencing, cloud backup, sending large files and using cloud applications all depend on adequate upload speeds. Part fibre typically offers 10-20 Mbps upload, which causes problems with multiple simultaneous users. Full fibre provides significantly better upload performance, whilst leased lines offer symmetrical speeds.
-
The PSTN switch-off completes in 2027, after which copper-based infrastructure supporting part fibre will be withdrawn. If you’re on part fibre, you’ll need to upgrade to full fibre before this deadline. We recommend planning your upgrade now rather than waiting until installation timescales may extend due to increased demand.
