Woollcombe Yonge Solicitors Installing a new leased line internet connection allowed Woollcombe Yonge to push forward with their ambitious growth plans.

Woollcombe Yonge is a firm of solicitors based in Plymouth. They had ambitious growth plans and wanted to introduce new cloud-based case management software across their entire organisation, whilst also upgrading their phone system to make the most of VoIP technology. Unfortunately, their internet connection didn’t offer them the bandwidth they required to make use of this new tech and at times it could be unreliable. As a result Acronyms recommended installing a dedicated leased line connection, that would enable them to proceed with their plans. 

What we did.

Acronyms helped Woollcombe Yonge by having a dedicated leased line installed at their offices. This meant they’d have sufficient bandwidth to introduce the technology they were after, and wouldn’t be competing with other local businesses or residents. Acronyms managed the whole process and worked with the Internet Service Provider to schedule and manage a site survey and the installation, meaning Woollcombe Yonge could focus on their day-to-day work, whilst the improvement was taking place.

How it helped.

Since the leased line was installed at Woollcombe Yonge, they have been able to go ahead and upgrade both their case management software and their phone system successfully. This has improved productivity across every team in the organisation. In particular, employees working outside of the office have been able to do so more efficiently. They are now able to access their client information away from their desk in a safe and secure manner.

Mark Holt & Co With dedicated on-site IT support Mark Holt & Co were able to save their employees time.

Mark Holt & Co have been an Acronyms customer for over ten years and whilst the accounting firm have always been very happy with the service, they wanted to find some additional efficiencies in their use of IT. They felt that by having a dedicated IT manager that can make proactive recommendations, they’d be able to save their employees time, making them more efficient and of better value for their own customers. Acronyms suggested providing them with one of the IT engineers for one day, once a week. 

How Acronyms helped.

Acronyms provided Mark Holt & Co with an Acronyms IT engineer for one day a week, to be on-site and assist where an IT manager ordinarily would. Whilst the engineer could help immediately with any day-to-day issues, they were also there to witness how Mark Holt & Co used IT on a daily basis, and to help the organisation do so more efficiently. Different engineers were used to gather different perspectives, and many years later, Mark Holt & Co still enjoy the company of an Acronyms engineer every week. 

The results of the solution.

Since providing Mark Holt & Co with this assistance, the organisation has saved its employees a considerable amount of time. Our engineers are able to spot potential problems before they amount to anything serious and can often plan work ahead of a call being made to the support desk. This is often the case with updates to Mark Holt & Co’s core software package IRIS, which our engineers can keep up to date and operational, testing updates before rolling them out to the accountants, ensuring any teething issues are dealt with, before they’ve had an opportunity to disrupt clients. 

Trewithen Dairy Implementing an infrastructure refit improved the resiliency of Trewithen Dairy's network, protecting their 24 hour operation from any downtime.

Trewithen Dairy produce some of Cornwall’s finest dairy products, which can be found in supermarkets across the South West. With high demand, and a careful production process that ensures their products remain fresh and delicious, their operation runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With an aging IT network they were worried about the effects of downtime on their business, having experienced some reliability issues that slowed production. Trewithen Dairy knew they needed high availability and redundancy built into their network to keep production going and so they reached out to Acronyms for help. 

How Acronyms helped.

Acronyms found that the biggest issue with Trewithen Dairy’s network was it’s aging server. With poor internet access in Cornwall’s Glynn Valley, and large costs to fix that, the Cloud wasn’t a feasible option. Therefore Acronyms opted for two servers, which it placed in two different areas of the building. The servers were configured to act as a redundancy for one another, with services split across the servers, so that even if one failed entirely, then production could continue via the other. 

The results of the solution.

This work, plus ongoing monitoring, means that Trewithen Dairy have a resilient network, that will ensure production can keep happening all year round. It has been designed with redundancy at its core, so that Trewithen Dairy can have peace of mind and don’t need to worry about the risk of outages. Instead, it allows them to focus on what they do best – producing delicious dairy products! 

Quinton Davies Recruitment By utilising Acronyms' IT support service, Quinton Davies employees saved the time they were wasting fixing their own IT issues.

Quinton Davies is a specialist IT and accountancy recruitment consultancy based in Bristol. Employees were trying to fix minor IT issues as they arose, taking valuable time away from supporting their own clients, reducing effectiveness and therefore success. Acronyms demonstrated how our outsourced IT support desk could win back their employee’s precious lost time. 

How Acronyms helped.

Acronyms were onboarded as Quinton Davies’ outsourced IT team. Whenever their employees had an IT niggle, they immediately called one of our engineers. We were on hand with expert advice, providing solutions and saving them time. What’s more, Acronyms proactively monitored Quinton Davies’ systems, making effective implementation recommendations, further reducing the number of problems employees had to face. 

The results of the solution.

By taking this additional workload away from the Quinton Davies staff, they were able to concentrate fully on their primary roles. This meant more time helping their candidates find the perfect role and more clients finding the best person for the job. What’s more, it has meant issues have been fixed correctly, with long term future proofed solutions, eliminating reoccurring problems, reducing time and cost. Acronyms have made their lives easier!
